Welcome to our "MedLIT" project, where we empower oncology patients with the tools to navigate the overwhelming sea of health information. Our mission is to enhance health media literacy, enabling patients to critically evaluate and make informed decisions about their treatment options. By distinguishing between facts and misleading information, we aim to safeguard their journey toward recovery. Join us in building a community where knowledge becomes the cornerstone of hope and healing.
The project aims to increase health media literacy among oncology patients, equipping them with critical thinking skills to discern and avoid medical misinformation. By fostering informed decision-making, we strive to protect patients from the perils of false treatments, enhancing their ability to navigate their health journey with confidence and clarity.
Our project focuses on several key groups: oncology patients and their families, who often play a critical role in treatment decisions; Community Health Workers (CHWs) and healthcare professionals, including nurses, doctors, and social workers, who guide and support patients; volunteers dedicated to assisting with patient care; and the general public interested in enhancing their understanding of media literacy and cancer awareness.
The project has 3 main results:
Content development and preparation of the MedLit learning materials
Development of MedLit Train the Trainers program for Community Health Workers (CHWs)
Local implementation activities
